ETEC 590
Graduating Project
Two years of paddling with all my might, I am finally back in shallow water, physically and mentally exhausted. With one more push through the water, I glide up onto shore. Still sitting in my kayak, ETEC 590 has given me the privilege of reflecting back onto all the courses I have taken.

At first, I envisioned the completion of 590 as a mere cutting and pasting of artifacts into a website, however, the process has not been that simple. The course started off with reacquainting ourselves by participating in a group discussion of an evaluation of ePortfolios by previous MET graduates. I enjoyed this experience, however it was intimidating to try to create something equally inspirational and reflective. The present e-portfolio started with the idea of a metaphor connecting my experiences, thoughts, theories and artifacts. This took a while to decide upon, but I have always been a proponent of going with one's passions. One of mine, is kayaking. I love floating along the water as it calms my soul. I wish I could kayak throughout the year as I certainly needed some self-regulation in the winter months when all of life's pressures were fighting against my learning current.

After deciding upon a metaphor, I needed to choose a format and framework for the ePortfolio. I chose to use Wix as a platform because I wanted to use a different format, as I have used Weebly for most of the websites I have created. Common sense was screaming to me to stick with Weebly to keep it easy and not to put forth the effort to learn something new. However, the changing currents told me that it was my last opportunity to create an artifact for the MET program, and I love to learn new applications.

Next, ETEC 590 has afforded me the opportunity to look back on the theories learned, and course work that was completed. I am amazed at the number of readings studied, discussion threads composed, and projects created. I enjoyed looking back at the artifacts, and in some cases, it was difficult for me to choose which to highlight. I found that the courses that I enjoyed the most were the ones that made me paddle the most vigorously.

Finally, I had the opportunity to edit the work of my peers. I enjoyed being able to peak into the creations of others to gain inspiration and motivation. I was also honoured to give feedback on their work, as I have looked up to my cohort of colleagues in the MET program because I have learned a tremendous amount from them.

The following are links to my ePortfolio proposal, timeline, and rubric for the ePortfolio. Changes have been made as I paddled toward the edge of the beach, however, the end result is a reflection of an epic journey.
